Mind Shift, Inside Out
Happy New Year! Welcome to my blog on art, life and living fully. Thank you for being here!
Over the holidays I was blessed with copious amounts of time spent with cousins. Growing up, we shared one long lane of lightly wooded green, divided by a goat shed, that was our communal backyard in Watch Hill, RI. We were together for what seemed like every free moment of our childhood lives and into the dating years. I was the youngest of the six. My tiny size and agility were my assets. There, in that backyard, I learned a multitude of life’s valuable lessons on loyalty, solidarity, inventiveness and camaraderie with my cousins. Our backdrop was nature’s magical quiet and untethered freedom.
We reminisced about then and now, life’s professional rewards and challenges and how they have changed us. Diana and I were looking at a painting of mine, Inside Out, created from the angst of making a professional mistake. It was my redeeming golden nugget, birthed from that experience. Diana then gifted me a different perspective. In her years of experience, as an established authority in her field, she recognized that one’s challenges and failures are often linked to some of their greatest accomplishments. I knew this to be true for others. Why hadn’t I opened up to that possibility for myself? That mind shift was the best gift she could have given me.
What mind shift can you offer others this year and what mind shift are you owning this year?
This Year, how can you flip your failure perspective into something redeeming? Can you trust the process? I’m expecting incredible surprises this year, even ones that may be wrapped in disguise.
Happy New Year!
